From what I've heard they're going in to work tomorrow morning....but that could just be wishful thinking...will be making an early loop thru the gorge in the morning...will let you know what I see.

THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IS OVER - - -The bill was on its way to President Barack Obama's desk late Wednesday night. "I will sign it immediately," Obama said Wednesday night. "We'll begin reopening our government immediately." [The President has Signed the Bill] Federal workers should expect to return to work Thursday morning, the director of the Office of Management and Budget said. "Now that the bill has passed the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, the president plans to sign it tonight and employees should expect to return to work in the morning, director Sylvia Mathews Burwell said. "Employees should be checking the news and OPM's (Office of Personnel Management's) website for further updates." www.opm.gov/

Wow, what incredible timing. This whole thing was TOO dramatic! So excited to be going to my usual spot tonight, so thankful for everyone's advice and guidance. Glad none of it needs to be taken!

I just registered to say thanks for keeping us up to date on the Red. A group of us are driving over this weekend and were keeping our fingers crossed. Nothing would make me happier than to get to use my 2013 camping pass tonight and the rest of this weekend. Thanks again for all the updates!

Whoa, a 24 hour delay would be advisable.
Word from a trusted source --- The Red River Gorge will take time to reopen. Possibly not expected to do so until Friday the 18th. At this time, the situation remains fluid and subject to change.

Thank you karenoel for your kind comments. The whole staff here is relieved that it's over. We stayed up most of the night nursing this and we are exhausted, so glad it is over. (at least for now - we will see in a few months but I don't think it will happen again anytime soon).

Hi Trix, Greg is definitely the man! While everyone stayed up all night monitoring this, I stayed up reading it. Appreciated it so very much. Looking forward to being at the Red this weekend.
