Hello. I'm planning a 2 and a half day/2 night backpacking trip with some friends and I've never backpacked or hiked in the Gorge. I'm looking at starting a Corner Ridge and ending around Pinch Em Tight. Do you have some better or alternative suggestions? Maybe some side trails off the Sheltowee with good camping spots? We'll probably just do around 7 miles a day, taking our time to look around and enjoy the fall scenery. I'm just going by looking at maps and reading books so I'm really clueless about the Gorge. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings ljnichols33, Since you've never hiked the RRG before your options are many. We wanted to inform you of some source material you may be interested in reviewing in order to make a decision. 1. RED RIVER GORGE TRAIL GUIDE (2005) by Jerrell Goodpaster 2. HINTERLANDS - THE RED RIVER GORGE GUIDE TO UNOFFICIAL TRAILS (2008) by Jerrell Goodpaster You can find these works at these RRG locations: Daniel Boone Trading Post, Porter's Chevron, Natural Bridge Trading Co, & Miguel's Pizza Visit their site: www.lostbranch.com/index.htmPlus, you may contact Jerrell at jgoodpaster@gmail.com In addition, review this excellent online site as well: www.toredrivergorge.com/**I recommend the Auxier Ridge Area to review. NOTE: There are other publications/sources but these are excellent places to start. Good Luck with your decision and let us know how it goes. 'Semper Exploro'

Thanks for the info. I did already buy and receive the first trail guide that you mentioned although I haven't been able to open it yet. I will check back in after the trip and let you know how it went. Thanks Greg! Laurie
